Faith, Hope, Love

In all of God’s creation there is balance.  The universe exists as a result of objects and forces operating together in Divine balance.

Three virtues that come from God for man’s well being are Faith, Hope, and Love.  A balance of these in one’s life provides for spiritual direction, a sense of security, mental stability and healthy living!

When one comes to God through the Lord Jesus, and is saved by grace, they become a “New Creation” where new things spring forth. (Cf. 2 Corinthians 5:17)

A major element of this newness is a Divine deposit of Faith, Hope, and Love.

The Holy Spirit of God is given to true children of God (Cf. Romans 8:14-16).  It is the Holy Spirit  Who bestows Faith, Hope, and Love into our hearts.

And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. Romans 5:5 (KJV)

Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. Romans 15:13 (KJV)

...think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man a measure of faith.             Romans 12:3             [Faith is a part of the fruit of the Spirit – Cf. Galatians 5:22]

Faith is the Divine ability to perceive things unseen, and which, are revealed to us by God’s Word. (Cf. Hebrews 11:1)

Faith is a supernatural ability to trust that God has done what He said He has done; to trust that He is doing what He said He is doing; to trust that He will do what He has promised to do!
(Cf. Romans 4:17-21)

Faith in God’s promises (Cf. Romans  10:17) opens the door for God’s miracles to come into our lives (Cf. Mark 11:23-24).

Faith overcomes the impossible and allows Divine solutions to appear.

Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. Mark 9:23 (KJV)

Hope is the Divinely given grace to expect positive things in the future.

Hope is a knowing that God will be our salvation not only today, but into our future for eternity. That’s tomorrow, the next day, all the days following, and forever!

Hope enables us to be patiently expectant, even when there is no proof in the natural world that God is at work. (Cf. Romans 8:25)

Hope is a positive reassuring sense that He is at work indeed!  (Cf. Romans 5:3-5, Romans 12:12)

Hope makes us positive because our future outlook is bright in God’s promise! (Cf. Romans 15:13)

Hope is an anchor of the soul in this world of trouble and adverse circumstances! (Cf. Hebrews 6:19)

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.             1 Corinthians 13:13 (KJV).

God is Love (1 John 4:8).  Love is the absolute commitment to the well being of another.

Love is unselfish and full of virtue[s]:

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of     wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.                                   1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (NIV)

Divine Love is a grace of the heart given to us wherein we give others the proper and appropriate affection and devotion irregardless of their actions, be they good or bad.

We are to love God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength; for all that we are, and all that we are worth comes from Him.  God has given all of His blessings, and all of Himself through the Lord Jesus Christ.  (Cf. John 3:16, Romans 8:32)

Our love for God is completely due Him.  It is a love that is entirely merited and deserved!  In fact, we cannot not love God to the same degree that He has loved us! (Cf. 1 John 4:9-10)

Jesus taught us, very graphically, the example of God’s love, and how that we are to walk in it towards others:

Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

Matthew 5:43-45 (KJV)
